News from Quebec

By Ivan Gombos, Quebec Provincial Co-ordinator

In this our 10th year of "Reach" competition in Quebec we once again formed two Leagues. One of these included Marianopolis and Dawson Colleges, Westmount High and Trafalgar School for Girls; the other consisted of Royal West Academy, Loyola High, and Lower Canada College. As in past years, the semi-final and final games at our Championship Tournament were close, exciting rounds. In the end, Dawson narrowly defeated Marianopolis, last year's champions. Prizes ( Chapters' Book Store gift certificates) were distributed to the first and second place teams.

As this was my last year as Quebec "Reach" Co- Ordinator, I would like to thank the "Reach" staff, particularly Paul and Frank Russell, and Daniel Hill for their steadfast support and encouragement over the past decade. Also, the financial and moral support from Ray Boucher, Director of Student Services at Dawson and Richard Filion, Dawson's Director General was very much appreciated. The new Co-Ordinators of "Reach" Quebec will be JANET WYMAN of the Biology Dept., Dawson College, ably assisted by EMILIE RICHER from Mathematics. I wish for them as much fun in this endeavor as I have had.

Thank you all,
Ivan Gombos

Congratulations to the Champion, Dawson College; team members Forest Scully-Blaker, Terren Proctor, Ben Walker, Josiah Henderson, Doug Conover and Coaches: Janet Wyman and Emilie Richer
